Chrome’s Secret Minigames

Do you love secrets? Do you love minigames? Do you love dinosaurs and 1970s computer games? Well then, get ready for the most exciting 5-10 minutes of your life, as we show you Chrome’s hidden minigames!

Dinosaur Game

The first game on this list is one you can play without Wi-Fi, which, already, is great! To access the game, turn off your Wi-Fi, and run Chrome. Then, try and go to a web page, for example, our blog (shameless self promotion). A little pixelated dinosaur should appear, along with a message reading, “There is no Internet connection”. Now, tap space. The dinosaur should jump up, and a ground should appear, extending to the right. The dinosaur will start running, and the game will begin!

If you don’t want to turn off your Wi-Fi, you can still access the game here, and it’s possible to play this on mobile devices too!

Dinosaur Game

Breakout Images

This is a remake of the 1970s arcade game, Atari Breakout, in which you bounced a ball off of blocks, in order to break more blocks. It’s more fun than it sounds.

However, in Chrome, there’s a twist! Instead of the blocks just being solid colours, they’re images instead!

So, accessing the game. The first thing you need to do is go to Google Image search, which can be achieved by googling “images”. Or you can click here. Your choice.

The next thing to do is to search (in images) Atari Breakout. It should briefly show images of the game, and then shrink down into 5 rows of different coloured images.

After you’ve cleared all the blocks, Google will then randomly search something, and the game starts over, with different images!

Build With Chrome

Have you ever thought to yourself, “Hey, I want to play with some Lego”, but the only Lego you own are two broken, chewed up Lego sets? Well, this is your lucky day, as there’s a Chrome app called Build With Chrome, which, essentially, is online Lego. All you need to do to access it is google search “build with chrome”, and it’ll be the first thing to come up. Click on that link, and, once re-directed to the page, click on the arrow labelled “Start Building”, and make your Lego dreams come true!

Can’t be bothered to follow those instructions? Here’s a link to jump straight into building!

Smarty Pins

This one’s for all you geography fans out there. Smarty Pins is a game google made which utilises google maps, another popular service of theirs. However, instead of the map finding places for you, in Smarty Pins, you need to find places on the map! To play, simply Google “Smarty Pins”, or just follow the link here.

The game has become very popular recently, and I’m sure many of you have played it. It’s similar to, in which you eat other players to grow larger. In slither, it’s slightly different. Instead of eating other players, you have to make them slide into your snake, after which they’ll disintegrate into a load of orbs, which you eat to grow bigger. Unfortunately though, it’s not always easy to do this, so here are some tips to hel you get to the top of the leaderboard!

Tactic 1: Trapping

This first strategy shows you how to trap your opponent, so they have no means of escape. To do this, you must find a player who is smaller than you. Then, you quickly circle around them using your speed boost (spacebar/left mouse click). They have no way out! Eventually they’ll give up, and run into your tail.

Tactic 2: Using Speed

For this tactic, the only thing you need is enough energy to speed boost. The best way to use this tactic is to find a player and then quickly speed boost in from the side, cutting in front of them. They probably won’t expect it, and if you time it right, it’s a guaranteed kill!

Tactic 3: The Lazy One

This tactic is for the people who can’t be bothered to try. For this, all you do is follow a large player, and wait til they die. This may take a while but they’ll go eventually!

Tactic 4: Quick Escape

If you are large enough, you will be able to go back into yourself. You can use this when someone is trying to get you, as you can turn back into yourself and go the other way, creating a wall between you and them!

Tactic 5: Get To The Crowd!

If you want to get big quick, use the circular map in the bottom right corner to track down where the most players are. From there, you can wait for loads to die, and eat all the mass that they drop!

How to Beat the Wall of Flesh: Strategies and Tips

The Wall of Flesh is the toughest boss pre-hardmode, and if it was up to me, I wouldn’t have fought it. Ever. Unfortunately however, the only way to get into hardmode from a normal world is through beating it, which can be a pretty tough challenge, especially if your weaponry is a bit rubbish. Why get into hardmode? Well, the most powerful weapons are only craftable in hardmode, you can make wings, and there are unicorns. I think that’s enough to convince you!

Weapons are an extremely important part of the fight against the WoF, as they’re almost the only way you’re going to deal it any damage. I recommend your main weapon being the Phoenix Blaster, with ammunition of meteor shots. The only problem with that is the crafting of the Phoenix Blaster. You’ll need a handgun, which are pretty hard to find, and 10 hellstone bars. The other weapon I recommend you’d get is the Night’s Edge, which is useful in up-close combat with The Hungry. As well as that, it comes in very useful when you’re attacked by Leeches, since they’re pretty fast, and hard to hit with your gun.

If you’re going to stand any chance against the Wall of Flesh, then you’re going to need good armour. I mean, how are you going to use your awesome new weapons if you can’t survive for more than five minutes? I’d recommend using Molten Armour. It’s the strongest armour pre-hardmode, and will give you an even better chance of winning! The only problem with it is that you’ll need loads of hellstone. More specifically, you’ll need 135 hellstone, and 45 obsidian. Don’t have the resources? The next best thing is crimson/shadow armour, which give you a total of 19 defense.

Never been a fan of these multicoloured mixtures? Well get ready to have them become your new best friend, since the buffs and abilities these potions will give you can make you almost invincible! These are the potions I’d recommend getting:

You know those five little slots below the places for your armour that fill up way too fast? Yeah? Well it’s time to put those spaces to good use! The first item you’ll want to try and get are the lightning boots or spectre boots, since they’ll help you jump, dodge and fly out of the way of lasers and monsters! As well as magic boots, I’d suggest grabbing a lucky horseshoe, especially of you’ve equipped an item that grants flight. If you don’t, you could very easily die from fall damage, which definitely isn’t the best way to go.

The terrain in The Underworld is pretty dangerous, and as well as the annoyingly large buildings that occasionally pop up, there are also huge pools of lava. That’s why most people recommend building a platform over everything, at least half the world wide. That’s what I did before fighting, and it definitely helps. It works even better with lightning boots/spectre boots, since you can sprint away from danger even faster that way! Building the platform all the way across The Underworld isn’t necessary in a large world, because you have so much space to fight the WoF in, but having a platform all across in a smaller world definitely helps.

Terraria: Hardmode Start Guide

Once you’ve played Terraria for a while (and have beaten the Wall of Flesh) you’ll enter hardmode, which makes everything… harder. After defeating the Wall of Flesh (WoF) you get rewarded with several items, one of which will always be the ‘pwnhammer’.

With this hammer you can destroy demons altars, which, after being destroyed, trigger a message to pop up on screen. This message will either read: “Your world has been blessed with Cobalt”, or “Your world has been blessed with Palladium. After smashing a second altar, another message will pop up, either reading: “Your world has been blessed with Mythril”, or “Your world has been blessed with Orichalcum”. The third time you smash an altar, the message will either read: “Your world has been blessed with Adamantine”, or “Your world has been blessed with Titanium”. After that it just repeats the order, only spawning them in smaller quantities.

To mine each of these, you’ll need a Molten Pickaxe, which you can get by using Hellstone bars. You can use the Molten Pickaxe to mine Cobalt/Palladium ore, which you can then use to make either a drill or a pickaxe. These new tools can mine Mythril/Orichalcum.

With these new tools under your belt, you can travel down to The Underworld to get the final few ores.

Once you have collected a plentiful amount of Titanium/Adamantite, teleport back up to the surface and craft a new forge from 25 pieces of whatever new ore you just got.  With this new forge, you can finally craft new pickaxes, drills, and all the tools you’ll ever need!

Slayin’: Tips, Tricks and Strategies

Slayin’ is an awesome game, but after a while it can get quite dull doing the same thing over and over again, especially if you get stuck on certain bosses. Here are some awesome tips n’ tricks to help you beat the game!

Stick To One Side

This may sound stupid, but sometimes sticking to one side really helps. If you’re losing life, by staying on the left/right you’ll only have to defend one side of yourself. However, although it can be helpful, don’t stay on one side the entire time. You’ll need to upgrade at one point, so it’s always good to make the trip across to get some gold!

Buy ‘The Knave’

The Knave is by far one of the best characters you can get, especially if you’re a beginner to the game. You’re protected on both sides by double knives, and although you can’t buy armour, you can equip a coat that increases your luck. More money! In fact, almost all the Knave’s weapons are based around getting more money, which is always a plus!

Buy Cheap Weapons Earlier

Just like the first tip, this might sound stupid, but I can assure you it’s not. Most people think that by saving up your coins, you’ll be able to get all the awesome weapons sooner. They’re only partially right (sorry). If you wait for the cool weapons to come for you by buying nothing but meat and armour, then it’ll take longer for the higher-level weapons to become available, but by buying weapons sooner, the new weapons unlock quicker. Did you know there’s a weapon that shoots lighting from the sky?!

Peloria Strategy

The first time I fought Peloria, I lost so much life, and that’s not just because I’m awful at the game. It’s because I didn’t know how to fight her. Well, you won’t make my mistakes!  The first thing you’ll need to know is that you can destroy those spiky plants with your weapons. Yes, even the ones Peloria shoots! I didn’t know that, so I just assumed I couldn’t. If you time your jumps right, you can destroy the projectile and deal Peloria some damage. It looks awesome in slow motion!

The Wizard Is Worth It

Seriously. I’m not joking. No, he can’t jump. Yes, when starting off you can only make a whirlwind for about 0.5 seconds, but when I bought the wizard, I beat the Royal Slime with a no damage bonus. I’ve never done that ever. As well as beating the most annoying boss, you also get some awesome spells, like fire balls! And ice shards! And fire whirlwinds! The list could go on! But it won’t, sorry.
